Public acceptance of latex "fursuits" in America and the Fandom

Hi everyone, I am new to owning a latex inflatable pony suit that I had ordered of my MLP character Pestilence Pony. I have received some flack from the main organizer of a local furmeet that I attend quite frequently because he feels it is to fetishy for wearing at the bowling alley that the meet is held at. Also I am 30 and said organizer is in his very early 20's. Pestilence is a female suit with very inflatable hips, stomach, breasts, tail, and mask. The breasts have nipples and the belly has a belly button. Now I do plan to wear a skirt that is at least knee length and a shirt that helps hide the nipples. What is the general feeling about the acceptance of latex suits in public gatherings both in general and in the fandom?

Thank you all for your time and help guiding a new slinky fur.

  • Well, its all about location really. At a fetish event, I wouldnt see any issue. At a dance club, it probably wouldnt be an issue unless it was an all ages dance club.

At a bowling alley? Absolutely. Its a family friendly activity. Even if your nipples are just on a costume, the same rules regarding public exposure of genetalia apply. My boyfriend has nipples on his fursuit and he cannot wear his suit "naked" during any part of the day while at the convention. It would be the equilivant of me, a biological female, walking the hallways topless.

The skirt might help but I think overall the rubber aspect of it is too tightly associated with "fetish" so it still may not fly. At this point, it would be good if you take a photo of it with the coverups you are thinking of and sending it to the event organizer, as you probably dont want to risk further disagreement with the organizer. It will help them understand that you are actually taking their request into consideration.

  • Thank you for the response. I do plan to do that as well as speak with the bowling alley people once I do have a skirt and shirt to wear with it.
